Happy Spring! 5 DIYs for the Birds!
We’ve been playing with the new stuff again! We just restocked our 1151 Charms Mega Mix ~ and this time it’s full of spring-themed charms like birds, cages, birds on twigs, flip flops, sunglasses, palm trees and more! You have GOT to check it out!
Look up to see what our (very talented) friend and coworker Becky made with our new Bird on a Swing Charms! These little charms are just screaming for some beaded dangles, so Becky whipped up some irresistible versions using our 4mm pearls, our 4mm crystals, and our smiling mini sun charms.
New! Fully Assembled Crystal Topped Mini Bottle Pendant Necklaces - We also have improved upon our basic Fillable Mini Bottle Necklace and we now stock a ready-made hand-beaded double crystal topped version. How cute IS this? I can picture using this for Mother’s Day, weddings, graduations, wish jewelry, fairy dust and baby teeth. If you want your necklace to be a permanent pendant, or to hold liquid, just add a light coat of e6000 adhesive to the cork and press to seal. Wait overnight for the adhesive to fully set to be permanent.
Nail Polish Pendants, Magnets Made with our Glass Tiles
We’ve been thinking about how many people out there are handy with a nail polish brush but don’t necessarily count themselves as artistic. Have we got a craft for YOU! It’s easy to take the nail art concept and apply it to our glass tiles for jewelry pieces.
We’re still experimenting with nail polish on our glass tiles ~ here’s some fun preliminary results (click on images for closeups) using glitter nail polish, oil-based metallic Sharpies, and Decocolor Paint Pens on the back side of our glass tiles. Apply each layer and then let dry fully before you apply layer 2. Seal the back of your art with 3D Crystal Lacquer before adding a magnet or adhering to one of our pendant bases.
New Metal Stamping Blanks in Oval Tags, too. We now have a second style of stamped metal blanks – a small silver pewter oval tag – perfect for single initial drop charms, or monograms or short words or text abbreviations (lol, omg, xox, etc!) These are really affordable little gems – plenty in each batch to experiment with! Free of lead, cadmium and nickel – nicely weighted pewter metal alloy. Find them in our new arrivals, here
Our best beginner’s metal stamping tip: Go outside! Put these down on top of a damp soft washcloth to keep the blank from sliding ~ on top of a hard concrete surface (or metal stamping block if you’ve got it). Hold down your metal stamp firmly, and give it a good solid strike with your hammer. This will take some practice – here are firmly stamped samples from Becky and lightly stamped samples from Kim to show you the different effects you can achieve with a basic metal stamp set. Much more to come!
Tray Pendant Blanks/Bezels Restocked! Our all-time customer favorites ~ bright silver metal bezel tray pendant blanks are back in 1″ rounds, 1″ squares, 48mm rectangles and 30mm rounds. All available with or without matching glass. Several of our most popular styles are now available in 100 packs for group projects too! If you don’t see the 100pack you need – just ask – we can easily restock in that quantity for you.
Buddhas are Back! Our 1″ Buddha Vials are restocked in blue and purple and clear – these are really gorgeous fillable vials – quite at deal at $2.99 each.
Birds and Sunglasses and Flip Flops – Oh MY!
We are still adding all of our newest 10 pack themed charms to the site, but be on the lookout for birds, cages, flying hearts, winged things, trotting horses, palm trees, flip flops, sunglasses, suns and moons. If you haven’t tried our 1151 Charms Mega Mix yet, this might be a great time to get a bag and start playing!
We received a really lovely comment from one of our customers who purchased our 1151 Charms Mega Mix for her grandaughter, thinking the charms would be kid-quality. She was amazed at the lovely pieces of jewelry her grandaughter made with this varied charm mix! Way beyond kid quality – certainly a bag of FUN with plenty to share with a slumber party or teen group.
