Inspired by our new Acrylic Pearls Mega Mix, SKU 584, Anne, our Queen of All Things Glued, re-purposed an empty packing tape tube bound for the recycling bin, and used nail polish to create this gorgeous and versatile candle decoration.
When this candle has burned down she can move the ring to a new one. She’s also thinking it would work really well around a vase.
The packing tube used here is about 3.25″ in diameter. She used 45g of the 50g of pearls. That leaves some extra pearls leftover for a little jewelry!
- eCrafty.com SKU 584 300+ Ivory Lustre Pearl Beads Lustre Mix 4-14mm Loose DIY Crafts Jewelry
- Cardboard Tube
- Very sticky glue or silicone caulk
- Tray to hold the pearls
How to Make It:
Prepare the tube:
If you want color on the tube under the pearls, paint your tube now. Anne applied nail polish after she attached the pearls and strongly advises painting before pearls. You might also want to paint the interior of the tube.
Apply the pearls:
Pour the pearls into a shallow tray where they can spread out in a single layer. You may want to use something you don’t care much about because it is likely to get glue-y. Apply very sticky glue (silicone caulk works well) around approximately a quarter of the outside of the cardboard tube. Roll the glue-y part in the pearls. Prop the tube up and let that section dry. Repeat to cover the whole tube.
Enjoy! Happy Creating!
