Look what Kim whipped up recently. Her very own portable happy light! This is something you can make very quickly – it’s as easy as screwing on a jar lid! She used her own mason jars (1 clear Mason pint jar, and 1 aqua Ball canning jar) to make an aqua blue solar powered garden lantern as well as a beach glass filled window shelf or bookshelf lighted treasure jar ~ using just 1 item (SKU 100J) from eCrafty.com!
We love this idea – this one little item makes quick work of smart little gifts – add them to your own Mason or Ball jar creations – think about using oil-based Sharpie markers on glass, or glue glass gems to the outside with e-6000 adhesive, dry fully, and light – or fill with our translucent glass beads – or clear colored marbles or glass gems – these are a great troop craft, wedding favor, girl friend or hostess gift, Christmas gift, faux snow globes etc. These will also work on any of those cute “Redneck” line of Martini Glasses, Stemmed Ball Jars, or Beer Mugs with the screw-topped glass edges.
About our Solar Powered Mason Jar Lids eCrafty SKU 100J – 1 solar powered lid, with light and battery. Assembled. You provide the jar or base. LIght up your mason jar, fruit jar, recyclable jam and pickle jars with this FUN solar LED lit light.
We use these outside as garden lanterns, and indoors on our window desk as lit shadow boxes or treasure keepers – both still working GREAT!. This nifty lid comes pre-charged with a little removable tab over the battery.
The lid fits regular 16oz mason jars or 1 pint jars. Standard size. Recycle, upcycle old canning jars, pickle jars, fruit jars. Turn them into lanterns, night lights, garden lights, fairy lights with the power of the sun! Makes a great green gift – kids love them – add your own treasures to any jar, add this lid – think of the possibilities!
You can see how easy these are to use. Turn the lid over, take off the protective strip over the battery. Your light will probably already light up! Just screw onto your jar, set out in the sun or on a sunny windowsill, and wait for dusk! Each charge lasts 6-8 hours.
In the sample below, Kim used a spaghetti sauce jar from her recyling bin (a great ATLAS jar – she buys the sauce just to get the jar) to showcase some of her beach glass collection. This jar makes her so happy – she brings it in at night and puts it on her fireplace mantel. :-) Again – a very simple process – you could load your jar with anything you want to showcase – holidays, snowglobe themes would work really well in these too. Wait until I mention this to Anne, then … watch OUT Christmas!
About the author & designer, Kim:
This is Kim. She is the owner of eCrafty.com. This is a terrible selfie – but, since she doesn’t take selfies, we just have to go with it. With some of her girlfriends on a good beach day. If you can’t locate her, it’s probably because her labrador Blanche needs another Frisbee tossed to her right NOW. Just like her lab, she has a short attention span. She loves dabbling in just about anything that involves art or jewelry supplies. Writing. Creating. Blogging. Website making. Sourcing. Armchair Traveling.
